How to be an Excellent Disciple

This series teaches how to be an excellent disciple of Jesus.

This section of scripture is a parable of Jesus’s and it is a warning to be careful regarding who you are learning from. Jesus wants us to pay close attention to the people we are following as our teachers. We are not to assume that everyone who teaches is qualified to teach and teaches correct theology. This parable encourages us to examine the teacher’s lives that we listen to and verify, by studying on our own, that what is being taught is the truth. Lastly, it shows the importance and necessity of applying what we learn and to be obedient to Scripture! If we don’t know the truth, we cannot follow the Lord Jesus as He requires and there are consequences.
