Common Men, Uncommom Calling

Jesus prayerfully chose twelve Apostles. While these men were indeed ordinary or common in appearance and profession, there was nothing, at the time, that would set them apart from anyone else, but these are the men whom Jesus Christ would use as the foundation for His church. Jesus is the cornerstone, and these common men were the first building blocks added to the foundation.  Why did Jesus choose these men? Why would he choose the man who would betray Him?
