There are so many people who believe themselves to be followers of Jesus who think the same way as those that Jesus is trying to confront here. They think that it is relatively easy to follow Jesus. They like to listen to a lot of the things that he says and hope that maybe every once and a while they might be the beneficiaries of some sort of miracle. But in this message we will see Jesus begin to give a much different picture of what it means to be a disciple, and it as it turns out, Jesus’s definition of what it looks like to follow him is quite a bit different than how many who have claimed to be his followers have defined it.
