Reasons Jesus Rejoices, Part 3
Jesus is fully God and fully Man.
For us to really comprehend this passage correctly it is vital that we believe that Jesus is both man and God. It is important to understand how Jesus understands Himself, when it comes to the nature and the plan of God. Luke 10:22 says, “All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” We see from Jesus’ language that He is God. Every person is a sinner and therefore requires reconciliation with a Holy God. Jesus is the Savior sent from God the Father. Only an infinite person can absorb the infinite wrath of a holy God against us for our sin. If he is not God and Man, He cannot fulfill his role as Savior, and we will all be lost.
