The concept of submission generally carries a lot of negative connotations in our society, even though it is a term that the Bible never shies away from and expects Christians to not just accept it but to embrace it. The rejection of the biblical understanding of submission is just one of the symptoms of a larger problem when it comes to how many Christians think about marriage and how to address problems in marriage and make them stronger and healthier. This problem isn’t just in the issue of marriage, but in all of Christian living, trying to deal with issues of growth and sanctification through trying to address issues only with practical answers while neglecting the theological foundation.
