Jesus came to seek and save the lost.

The mission of the Messiah was to seek sinners and offer salvation. Jesus’ mission has not changed. Scripture says, “for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” That is everyone, past, present, and future. Jesus came to save people from the gravest danger known to man. It is the fate of death, not just physical death of the body, but a spiritual death, an eternal death. Without salvation there is only suffering forever the just wrath of a holy God in hell. This is due punishment for sinning against a holy and perfect God.
