Deconstructing Unbelief, Part 2 | Tearing the Mask Off Hypocrisy
The scribes, the Jewish lawyers, did not teach the truth.
The scribes, who were the lawyers, were the learned men who studied God’s law. Their responsibility was to teach the Pharisee’s and others. Jesus had very strong words when He spoke against these would be teachers of the law. God holds those who teach His word to a higher standard. Jesus pronounces woes to these teachers and it is a warning to todays’ teachers and to us as listeners. As listeners, we are to verify what we are hearing against scripture, so as not to follow false leaders. Do you verify what you are being taught or do you assume the person who is speaking is teaching the truth? If you are following a false teacher, you are on the path to hell, not to eternal life with Christ.
